Collaborative Sites for our Classroom
NoRedInk - We will be using this website in Language Arts. Students will need to log in using their Google account.
Newsela - Newsela is a non-fiction news site designed for students. It offers different levels of reading to help support all readers. We will use this site for some of our Nonfiction Fridays.
Actively Learn - This is a reading website we will be using for some of our short stories. You will need to sign in with Google.
Tagul Word Clouds - Tagul is a web service you can use to create Word Clouds.
DOGO News - This is a news site designed for Middle School classrooms. This page links to our own classroom news site, where I can pick articles for students to read.
ThinkCerca - We will be using this as a reading resource.
Exit Ticket - This is a tool we will be using for both bell-ringers and exit tickets in order to check our understanding of both reading and language arts concepts.
Tween Tribune - We use this site in both Language Arts and Reading. Students get practice in reading and comprehension of non-fiction text. Students also spend time learning to create appropriate responses to articles they have read. We also create book reviews of our favorite books and publish them on Tween Tribune.
Class Wikis - Wikis are a great classroom tool for creating collaborative projects. We use our wiki in a variety of ways in our classroom. In our Lit Circles, we use the wiki for our online discussions. In Language Arts, we use the wiki to create our own knowledge-base of grammar and mechanics rules and examples.
Symbaloo - The simplest way for you to access everything you need for our classes is to use Symbaloo. I have created an entire web mix for you to use. First, you have to set up your own login and password on Symbaloo. Then, log in. Next, come back to this page and click on the Symbaloo link, and the page will automatically be added as one of your web mixes. You can add other web mixes, or create your own web mix for your favorite websites.
Reading Strategies Padlet Wall
Padlet - We will use Padlet for a variety of activities. I have started a Padlet board called "Books Too Good to Miss." You can use this board to post quick reviews and recommendations of books for other readers. Or, you might be able to find your own next best book here. You will have to log in with our password. Check above the book table for the password. We will also use this Padlet link to complete your Exit Slip over the use of Think-Writing. You will need a password from Mrs. Schaben.
ToonDoo - An easy to use website for creating comics, comic books and other activities. Use this site to create ads and comic strips for your wiki magazines. (This site requires you to create a login name and a password. You need to remember these as I won't have access to them.) After you have finished, ask Mrs. Schaben to help you screen-print and use Paint to save your comic in a format that you can use on your magazine site.
Create your own Comix - Use this site to create comic strips for your magazines. After you have finished, ask Mrs. Schaben to help you screen-print and use Paint to save your comic in a format that you can use on your magazine site.
Research Project Website - This is the classroom website we will be using as we work our way through our research projects for Social Studies. It contains everything you need to successfully complete this project. Be sure you use the calendar to stay on track. All the links for our project are also available on the site. These include links to Evernote, Easy Bib, and the AEA Online Database.
